About FileMaker Server

FileMaker Server is a dedicated database server that opens FileMaker Pro files, makes them available to clients on your network, and publishes FileMaker data in web pages or to other applications supported by the FileMaker Server Web Publishing Engine and the FileMaker Data API Engine.

Installing FileMaker Server

FileMaker Server runs in Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems. To install FileMaker Server, see FileMaker Server Installation and Configuration Guide.

FileMaker Server Admin Console

FileMaker Server Admin Console is a web application that lets you configure and administer FileMaker Server; work with, monitor, and share data from hosted databases; and manage connected clients.

You can run Admin Console on the same machine where FileMaker Server is running or on almost any machine that has network access to FileMaker Server. See Starting Admin Console.

Supported clients

For supported clients, see the FileMaker Technical Specifications.

Claris AI Model Server

Claris AI Model Server is a dedicated server hosting locally installed artificial intelligence (AI) models that clients of your FileMaker custom apps can use. From Admin Console, you can configure the server, manage models, create API keys, and engage in an AI chat.

Important  The AI model server is installed on the primary machine with the FileMaker Server installation for testing and other limited purposes. For production use, you should install the AI model server on a separate machine. See Running Your Own AI Model Server in the Knowledge Base.
