Connecting to Claris and FileMaker apps
Claris Connect provides connectors for Claris Studio, FileMaker Cloud, and FileMaker Server.
For all connectors, a Claris ID is required to sign in, and you must be part of a team. See Claris Customer Console Help.
For the FileMaker Cloud connector:

a Claris ID is required to sign in with for files hosted on FileMaker Cloud. See Setting up authentication in FileMaker Cloud Help.
For the FileMaker Server connector:

a user name and password is required to sign in with for files hosted on FileMaker Server. See Editing accounts and privilege sets in FileMaker Server Help and Editing FileMaker file accounts in FileMaker Pro Help.

the database server must be hosted on the internet. See Hosting databases in FileMaker Server Help.

a valid third-party SSL certificate must be installed on the database server. See Securing your data in FileMaker Server Help and Requesting an SSL certificate in the FileMaker Server Installation and Configuration Guide. You can also use a third-party SSL certificate checker to ensure that your certificate is valid.
For both the FileMaker Cloud and FileMaker Server connectors:

the FileMaker Data API must be enabled on the host. See FileMaker Data API settings in FileMaker Server Help, Changing FileMaker Data API settings in FileMaker Cloud Help, and Enable FileMaker Data API access in the FileMaker Data API Guide.

custom apps must have the FileMaker Data API extended (fmrest) privilege enabled. See Editing extended privileges for a privilege set in FileMaker Pro Help.
The information required to establish the connection differs between FileMaker Server and FileMaker Cloud connectors.

Because Claris Studio, FileMaker Cloud, and Claris Connect authenticate with Claris ID, you are automatically authenticated when adding a Claris Studio or Claris FileMaker Cloud step and don't have to specify your username and password.
