About user types
Note The following information is for team managers.
A team can have two user types:
- managed users: those who are managed by the current team
- external users: those who are managed by a different team
A user becomes a managed user when:
- a team manager invites the user to join their team
- the user transfers their account to the current team
The following table shows which tasks team managers can do for managed and external users.

- FileMaker Cloud: Whether a user is managed or external is separate from whether the user is a licensed user or unlicensed user in the team.
