About user types
Note The following information is for team managers.
A user is always managed by a team, which means only the managing team can change certain settings for its managed users. Even though a user can be in more than one team, a user is managed by only one team at a time. Usually a user is managed by the first team they are invited to join, but management of their account can be transferred to a different team. If not managed by any other team, a user is managed by the Claris International Inc. team (see the notes below).
Therefore, a team can have two user types:
-
managed users: those who are managed by the current team
-
external users: those who are managed by a different team
A user becomes a managed user when:
-
a team manager invites the user to join their team
-
the user transfers their account to the current team
The following table shows which tasks team managers can do for managed and external users.

-
A user is designated as a team manager by the purchaser.
-
A user transfers management of their account out of a team but not into another team.
-
The team that a user was managed by is deleted.
