Creating flows with templates integrated with FileMaker apps

Claris Connect provides templates that link one or more connectors to a specific FileMaker custom app. These templates are distinct from other templates because they are designed to be used with the specific FileMaker custom app that’s associated with it. For example, you can use the "Jamf Pro to ECF Records Manager" template to link the Mobile Device Management (MDM) app Jamf Pro to the ECF Records Manager app and import device data into the app.

The prerequisites and steps that follow may vary slightly based on the template used.

Prerequisites

  • Access to the FileMaker custom app (for example, the ECF Records Manager app) used in the template

  • A Claris ID or Managed Apple Account

  • An account for the connector(s) (for example, Jamf Pro) used in the template

Creating your flow from the template

  1. Open the FileMaker custom app associated with the template to use, then follow the necessary steps to start the template setup with Claris Connect.

  2. Sign in to Claris Connect using your Claris ID or Managed Apple Account and password.

  3. Review the information needed to complete the template setup, and click Next.

  4. On the Connect page, next to each connector, click Connect New Account, then enter the required information for each connector.

For example, for the Jamf Pro connector, enter the subdomain, username, and password.

  5. Click Next to go to the Finish page.

  6. On the Finish page, copy and paste the webhook URL and API key into the related fields in the FileMaker app.

  7. Click Go to Project.

  8. To turn on the option for saving request and response data, click Start.

You can view the request and response data for each step of a flow run on the History tab. See Viewing flow history.

  9. Exit the template setup.

The FileMaker custom app is now linked to the project and flow created by the template, and the flow is ready to use. Testing the connection between the flow and the app is recommended before the flow is run for the first time.
