Operation catalog

This matrix is a quick index of the operation catalogs and verbs exposed by the current filemaker release. Use the installed filemaker help command for each operation's exact input, output, constraints, and error codes.

A catalog's existence does not imply that it supports every common verb. For example, font is read-only, and authorization supports reading and revoking an existing authorization but not creating or updating one.

The script catalog also has a step reference below its operation help. Use filemaker help script steps to list the supported script steps and filemaker help script steps "Set Variable" to inspect one step's input.

Get the current operation reference

Start with the catalog or operation you need:

Copy
filemaker help
filemaker help layout
filemaker help layout duplicate
filemaker help field create options validation

Each answer lists the valid next path segments. An operation page includes its accepted keys, their types, whether they are required, enforced checks, notes, example, and possible errors.

For scripts or generated documentation, request the same contract as JSON:

Copy
filemaker help --json layout duplicate
filemaker help --json --all

Note  The installed help is authoritative This matrix can become outdated as filemaker adds or changes operations. The help generated by the installed binary comes from the same contract used to validate requests and takes precedence over this page.
