About ADT

The Agentic Development Toolkit (ADT) gives a coding agent two ways to work with FileMaker: native authoring inside a real .fmp12 file and JavaScript app development for a FileMaker Web Viewer.

Native FileMaker authoring

Your agent can inspect and change tables, fields, table occurrences, relationships, value lists, calculations, scripts, layouts, security settings, and other FileMaker structures. These operations use the FileMaker engine and do not require a Web Viewer app.

ADT reads the existing file before changing it, follows the standards active for the project, applies related changes as a batch, and verifies the result from a fresh read.

Web Viewer app development

ADT can add a React and TypeScript app to a project, connect browser preview to a FileMaker Pro session, generate typed clients from FileMaker layouts, and place the finished app in FileMaker persistent data. The app can call FileMaker scripts and read or write records through the JavaScript library included with the project.

Web Viewer development requires FileMaker Pro 26.1 or later. FileMaker Pro's built-in Agent Access supports the live development connection.

What ADT changes

The macOS installer adds coding-agent plugins and command-line tools. ADT adds custom functions, layouts, and scripts to a FileMaker file only when a Web Viewer workflow requires them or you request them explicitly.

Project source remains in ordinary files on disk. App source placed in FileMaker remains in persistent data even if ADT's supporting components are later removed.
