Update the toolkit

Run the latest .pkg installer to update the global Agentic Development Toolkit (ADT) files. This replaces the coding-agent plug-ins, the adt and filemaker CLIs, the embedded MCP server, component definitions, and project templates on your computer.

Note  The installer updates global files only It does not change components already installed inside a FileMaker file or the shared @adt/fmdapi package vendored into an existing project. Those have separate update pages linked below.

Reinstall ADT

  1. Get the current build.

There's no public download location — request the current adt-<version>-build.<n>-installer.pkg through your pre-release program contact.

  2. Run the installer.

The package is signed and notarized. Running it replaces the global ADT files and refreshes integrations for supported coding agents detected on your computer.

  3. Restart detected coding agents, and FileMaker Pro if it was open.

Quit and reopen any detected desktop host that was running during the update: Cursor, ChatGPT, VS Code, or Claude Desktop. End and restart active Codex CLI or Claude Code sessions. Restarting lets each host load the updated plug-in files. If FileMaker Pro was open during the update, quit and reopen it as well, so any FileMaker Pro feature the installer enables takes effect.

  4. Verify the update.

    Copy
Show me ADT's status and the full diagnosis after this update.

Status includes the component bundle and its version. The diagnosis reports ready, degraded, or blocked. Resolve anything it flags before continuing.

Update the other scopes

  • Check and update a file's ADT components after the global component definitions change.

  • Update a project's JavaScript library to copy the installed @adt/fmdapi version into an existing project.

  • Uninstall ADT to remove the global installation instead of replacing it.

  • If this project was created before ADT 0.8, see the 0.8 upgrade guide for the extra steps that carry it forward, including replacing the file's ADT components and updating custom scripts that used the old callback template.
