Create an app
Creating a Web Viewer app adds a React and TypeScript workspace under webviewer-apps/, binds it to one connected FileMaker file, and prepares the file for the app.
Prerequisites
The ADT project must already contain a connected FileMaker file. Web Viewer apps also require Node.js 24 or later and a JavaScript package manager; pnpm 11 or later is the recommended choice.
FileMaker Pro 26.1 or later must be able to open the connected file during app setup, with Agent Access turned on for live setup and preview. See System Requirements.
Ask the agent to create the app
Add a Web Viewer app called dashboard to this project and bind it to the Inventory file. Verify the setup before editing the app.
If the project contains one connected file, the agent can select it automatically. With several files, name the target. Each app binds to exactly one file.
What ADT creates
ADT creates the app directory, its package configuration, Typegen configuration, React source, and build scripts. The first app also creates the project workspace files and one shared @adt/fmdapi JavaScript library under vendor/@adt/fmdapi.
The agent records the app path and file binding in adt.json. It installs dependencies and commits only the files created by setup when git integration is enabled.
In FileMaker, ADT installs missing custom functions, layouts, and scripts under the Agentic Development Toolkit folders. It also creates the layout that hosts the new app. Existing but outdated ADT components are reported for review rather than silently replaced.
Verify the new app
Before feature work, ask the agent to:
-
Check the project and app configuration.
-
Confirm the correct FileMaker file and app layout.
-
Generate the initial typed client from configured data layouts.
-
Run the app's checks.
-
Start the development server and inspect the rendered starter app in its embedded browser.
See Preview and edit an app for the development loop.
