Options

With dialog controls whether the Open <filename> dialog box displays when the script step is performed. This dialog box requires the user to manually enter an account and password (or edit information already displayed in the dialog box) to open a file. When With dialog is set to On, FileMaker Pro Advanced uses the account and password information that is stored with the script step, or generates information from calculations when the script step is performed.

Account Name allows you to specify the name of the account to be authenticated.

Password allows you to specify the password for this account.

Description

Privileges assigned to the new account take effect immediately, including access to tables, records, layouts, scripts, and value lists.

Notes

This script step works only with FileMaker file accounts, the Guest account, and external server accounts. For other account types and when the file is hosted by FileMaker Cloud, it returns error code 3 ("Command is unavailable").

You do not need full access privileges to perform this script step. Users with any level of access can use this script step to re-login to the database.

Users get five attempts to enter their account and password, unless the Set Error Capture script step is enabled.

If the Set Error Capture script step is enabled, users get a single attempt to enter their account and password.

The With dialog option works differently depending on where the script runs:

Server-side scripts, the FileMaker Data API, and Custom Web Publishing run this script step as if this option is set to Off.

In FileMaker WebDirect, setting this option to On displays the dialog box. However, if you store the account and password in the script step, this information is not displayed in the dialog box.

Example 1

Prompts the current user to re-login after deleting the specified account.

Note  Because of the Delete Account step, users must have full access privileges to run this script.

Delete Account [Account Name: "User"]
Re-Login [With dialog: On]
