# Enable OData access in databases

To allow OData access to FileMaker data, you must enable the fmodata extended privilege in FileMaker Pro. If you don't enable the fmodata extended privilege, OData applications won't be able to use OData calls to access the database even if the database is hosted.

**Note** For security reasons, enable the fmodata extended privilege only in the privilege sets for accounts that you want to allow access via OData.
