Create an extended Claris account for Claris Server services
For most of the Claris platform, a Claris ID is your key to enter, from signing in to Claris Studio, Claris Pro, and Claris Go to installing Claris Server. But for now, certain Claris Server services that access hosted apps don't yet fully support Claris ID. To use those services, you must create an extended Claris account and use it to authenticate instead.
An extended Claris account consists of:
-
account name – the same as your Claris ID email address
-
password – an extended Claris account password that you set in Claris Studio. This password is unrelated to your Claris ID password (changing one has no effect on the other), and you can set it as you choose.
Do I need an extended Claris account?
You need an extended Claris account if you want to use any of these services provided by Claris Server:
-
Claris WebDirect
Note Each user who needs to access a hosted app using Claris WebDirect must create their own extended Claris account.
-
scheduled scripts in Claris Pro files
-
Claris Data API
Note If you use Claris Connect (which uses the Claris Data API) to connect to apps hosted by Claris Server, you'll need an extended Claris account.
-
Claris OData API
-
Custom Web Publishing with XML (when available)
Wherever you provide an account name and password to authenticate for these services, use your extended Claris account credentials—for example, on the Claris WebDirect sign-in page, or in a Claris Data API call to log in to a database session.
