Working with plug-ins
A plug-in is software that extends the capabilities of FileMaker Pro. Plug-ins may be available from third-party software companies, or from a development or information systems group within your organization.
A plug-in implements features that you access by using external functions, external script steps, or both. See the documentation that came with the plug-in.
This section describes how to:
create plug-ins and make them available to users
install plug-ins in solution files
set up solution files to check plug-in version information and update plug-ins automatically if needed
Notes
In Windows, FileMaker Pro can be deployed as a 32-bit or 64-bit application. In macOS, FileMaker Pro runs only as a 64-bit application. This may affect compatibility with plug-ins that support only a single architecture. Using an incompatible combination of FileMaker Pro and plug-ins may result in unexpected behavior or cause FileMaker Pro to stop working. To determine if a plug-in supports 32-bit, 64-bit, or both, contact the plug-in's developer. To switch to 32-bit or 64-bit FileMaker Pro in Windows or to disable incompatible plug-ins, search the FileMaker Knowledge Base.
