Copying a button or button bar

When you copy a button or button bar, you copy the object and the button definition. If you copy a button or button bar from another file, make sure that any fields, layouts, or script references are accurate for the current file. See Defining or changing a button or Defining or changing a button bar.

To copy a button or button bar:

1.	In Layout mode, select the button or button bar to copy.

To select the entire button bar, click anywhere outside the button bar, then click inside the button bar without selecting any segments.

2.	Choose Edit menu > Copy.

3.	If you’re pasting the object on a different layout, switch to that layout.

4.	Choose Edit menu > Paste.

The selected button or button bar is pasted with its formatting. If you copy the button or button bar into a different file, any styles applied to the object aren’t copied.

Notes

•	To see a button or button bar definition, switch to Layout mode, choose the layout, and select the button or button bar. Choose Format menu > Button Setup or Button Bar Setup.

•	If you paste a button that uses a custom icon into another FileMaker Pro file, the custom icon is also copied.
