About the creator's account and Default account (Claris Pro only)

In Claris Pro, each database file initially contains two accounts: the creator's account and the Default account.

Creator's account

The Claris ID account of the user who created the file is assigned the Full Access privilege set, which permits access to everything in a file. This account allows the creator of the file to open the file and immediately modify anything in the file.

The creator's account is fully editable. You can rename it, make the account inactive, or even delete the creator's account. See Creating and editing account access.

Don’t forget the Claris ID account name and password that is assigned to the Full Access privilege set. If necessary, write it down and store it in a secure place. If you can no longer sign in to Claris Pro with this Claris ID account, you may not be able to access or change the file.

Default account

You can permit any user to open a file with the Default account. The Default account determines the privileges for users if their Claris ID account hasn't been specifically given access in the file. In new files, the Default account is assigned the Read-Only Access privilege set and is inactive. You can enable it and assign any privilege set you want to the Default account.

For example, you may want to enable the Default account to give everyone limited access to certain layouts without having to add their Claris ID accounts to the file in advance.

The Default account is not fully editable. You cannot delete the Default account or change the Default account name. See Creating and editing account access.
