Scan barcodes

You can scan a barcode into a container field or text field. You can also use the Insert From Device script step in FileMaker Pro to scan barcodes. See FileMaker Pro Help.

Scan a barcode into a container field

  1. Tap the container field.

  2. If you are replacing existing data in a container field, tap Replace Replace icon.

  3. Tap Barcode Barcode icon, then use the camera to scan the barcode.

Scan a barcode into a text field

  1. Tap the text field.

  2. Tap Insert data icon, then tap Barcode Barcode icon.

  3. Use the camera to scan the barcode.

Tips for scanning barcodes

  • Hold the iOS or iPadOS device 3 to 5 inches from the barcode in bright light.

  • Avoid moving the device while FileMaker Go scans the barcode.

  • When scanning barcodes that are close to each other, focus the camera on a single barcode at a time.

  • If you use the camera to scan a barcode, you hear a beep after the bar code has been scanned.
